The Cozy Dog

The Cozy Dog restaurant in Springfield, IL, on what used to be Route 66, claims to be inventor of the corn dog. I have no idea if it's true or not, and really it doesn't matter since corn dogs aren't high on my list of "Great Things To Eat." But they've got excellent chili-cheeseburgers and other health food items here that make it a worthwhile stop if you're ever in the area. (Personally, I've always been attracted to roadside restaurants with the gigantic words "FOOD" or "EATS" on their roof or sign. Generally, it's a sure indication of gourmet cuisine. :-)
