Seals at La Jolla

We had an afternoon off during the long California trip so eight of us crammed into the rented minivan and headed south to La Jolla. Downtown, along the beach, there were hundreds of people just hanging out and watching the seals do ... nothing. Sleep. Every now and then, a young one would pop up and waddle out to the water. Mom would usually follow close behind, nudging Junior back to shore. It was pretty funny to watch. Very much like a human parent chasing a two-year-old. Shot with the Canon SD-850 IS point-and-shoot.
